A Birmingham fashion designer is delivering top-quality restaurant food to offices and homes to help her couture career go from rags to runway.

24-year-old Nyheke Lambert, who has 3 years experience working for high-end fashion brands, is delivering food for online service Deliveroo, a website that enables hungry users to select dishes from their favourite restaurant and then have them dropped to their door. The service, which covers the City Centre, Edgbaston and Moseley, delivers food from a range of independent eateries, such as Asha’s, Bodega and Annexe, as well popular restaurants like Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Carluccio’s.

Nyheke, who is from Castle Vale and has co-designed menswear for House of Billiam, organised fashion shows for Minki Cheng, and designed a bag for Nike, landed the job after moving back to Birmingham to spend time with family and friends and decide upon her next fashion venture.

She said: “January to May is one of the quieter periods in the fashion business, so I decided to find a job that allowed me to work flexible hours so I could still carry on designing,  and didn’t involve sitting in an office all day. I came across Deliveroo, which was looking for a delivery driver. I recently purchased a scooter so saw it as a sign of fate!”

Jacob Lourie, regional manager at Deliveroo, said: “It’s wonderful to have Nyheke on our team. She’s enthusiastic and friendly, we love her designs, and just hope she keeps delivering when she makes it to fashion week.”
