A host of fun lunch-time activities are being planned at Selfridges Birmingham to encourage hard-working people in the city to take reclaim their lunch breaks as part of the store's new campaign Work It!.

For a fortnight in May, the iconic store will be setting up a series of fun activities for workers to take part in and make a more fulfilling use of their full lunch hour in order to return to work refreshed and re-energised.

The Bullring- based store, which has collaborated with a number of local businesses and popular, award-winning street food vendors, will be offering the sessions from Monday, 18th May until Sunday 31st May with a series of activities taking place, designed to capture the tastes and imagination of city centre workers.

During the week between noon and 2pm, the 30-minute bite-sized activities will include everything from learning Spanish, Laughing Yoga,  Self-Defence, Salsa classes, magic lessons and also fashion and beauty top tips by some of the industries experts in a series of short tutorials.

For those who really can’t tear themselves away from their desks, there are plenty more activities planned for after 6pm, including a running club and tips on how to make your wardrobe - and make-up -  last from desk to a night out. There are also specialist talks on how to get ‘Linked-In’ by a social media expert who can help you grow your online business profile, to Birmingham’s very own The Apprentice star Nick Holzherr talking about his journey and advice on becoming the CEO of a successful business.

At weekends, there will be a CV Workshop, a chance to learn basic first aid, along with demonstrations on how to get into the latest craze of juicing and making your own sushi, to top beauty demos.

Those taking part in the ‘Work It’ days won’t be missing out on a chance to have their lunch either, as Selfridges has teamed up with the multi-award winning Digbeth Dining Club to make sure there is some tasty fare on offer.

Jack Brabant from Digbeth Dining Club said: “We are excited about this collaboration between Selfridges and Digbeth Dining Club for the Work It campaign. It’s a chance for regulars and anyone that hasn't yet tried our food to see the best in Brum's street food traders every day for two weeks. This is a wonderful showcase of what's in store from Digbeth Dining Club with a whole host of programmes of food and entertainment to come later this year.”

Sam Watts, deputy general manager at Selfridges Birmingham, said: “We are delighted to be launching this Work It campaign and to help people reclaim their lunch breaks. We have worked hard to chose some really innovative and creative ideas that will no doubt capture the imagination of everyone in the city. We will be taking part ourselves for sure!”
