A talented general manager at the award-winning Opus at Cornwall Street has been recognised as an upcoming star in hospitality by the Future Faces awards.

Pawel Skrzypinski has been nominated for a ‘Future Face Leisure and Hospitality’ award, a mark of recognition that celebrates employees who are committed to developing careers, whilst showing outstanding qualities that make them one of the best in their field.

Pawel, who has worked at Opus at Cornwall Street for three-and-a-half-years, received this nomination due to his exceptional customer service skills, enthusiastic can-do attitude and inspiring leadership. Pawel began working at Opus as a waiter but his fantastic service combined with his positive attitude soon saw him progress to finally become general manager. Under Pawel’s management, his passion for developing staff has seen a member of his team achieve the prestigious Royal Academy of Culinary Arts award, whilst his commitment to customer satisfaction has seen the restaurant’s Tripadvisor ranking increase by 70%.

Speaking ahead of the awards ceremony, Pawel Skrzypinkski, said: “I had no idea that Ann and Irene, the restaurant directors at Opus, had nominated me for this award so it was a huge surprise when I received my nomination. Since working at Opus, I have honed my skills as a leader, helping staff develop their skills and careers and I want to continue providing exceptional service to make the Opus brand more recognisable nationally.”

Irene Allan, restaurant director at Opus restaurant, said: “This nomination is well deserved - Pawel is an exceptional restaurant manager, who always has a spring in his step, is full of determination and an inspiring mentor to other team members. We are all immensely proud of Pawel’s nomination and fingers crossed he brings home the award on the night.”

The Future Faces awards take place on Friday 11th September at Edgbaston Stadium from 7pm. Beth Sadler from the Priory Rooms and Katrin Toots from The Botanist are also nominated for a ‘Future Face Leisure and Hospitality’ award.
