Over 500 Labour supporters and volunteers descended on Birmingham’s Conference Aston  on Sunday, 6th September in the run-up to the Labour leadership vote.

The academic venue recently hosted supporters for Andy Burnham’s ‘Andy For Labour’ campaign, in which the Leigh MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Health rallied ahead of the Labour leadership vote which concludes later this week (Thursday 10th September).

Steve Bedser, regional campaign coordinator for the ‘Andy For Labour’ campaign, stated that “size and transport links” were the top factors in selecting the academic venue, as well as flexibility in booking the event at short notice.

Paul Bunce, marketing manager at Conference Aston, said: “Being part of Aston University, we can easily cater for events with 600 plus attendees.  This, combined with our flexibility on availability out of term time and our fantastic transport links, made us the perfect match to host Andy Burnham’s rally.”

Conference Aston is Birmingham’s biggest residential conference venue, situated in the heart of Birmingham City Centre. Sitting within the green, landscaped setting of Aston University, it is a ten minute walk from three national train stations, a two minute drive from the motorway and a 30 minute drive from Birmingham International Airport, making it an ideal venue for those travelling in from outside the city.
