Campaign kicks off Saturday 8th October 2016

On the 5th anniversary of the passing of Harry Moseley, Help Harry Help Others is launching its #CancerSucks campaign to raise awareness of the work that his charity continues to do to support people affected by cancer.

#CancerSucks invites people to get involved by sharing a photo or video on social media of themselves sucking a lemon using the hashtag #CancerSucks, and nominating five friends to also take on the challenge.

Inspired by a photograph of Harry sucking a lemon, mum Georgie Moseley, who is spearheading the campaign, knew there was an opportunity to get people involved, smile and have fun.

“This is exactly the sort of thing that Harry would want people to get involved with. Anybody that has been affected by cancer knows that it sucks and that no matter what life throws your way, one of the best medicines is laughter. Even though the saying goes ‘when life gives you lemons, make lemonade’, we’ve decided that it would be even more fun to stick one in your mouth, share your reaction with friends and encourage others to also take part - hence the name #CancerSucks,” she said.

Help Harry Help Others continues to raise funds and provide support to cancer patients, their friends and families across the region from its drop-in centre in Stechford. The centre provides support to anybody affected by cancer, without the need for referral, with a host of services all under one roof.

The centre provides support from housing, benefits and financial advice to professional counselling and bra and wig fitting. It also provides careers advice and life coaching, as well as information groups, one-to-one support for both adults and children, and social events all in a home-from-home environment.

People can take part in the #CancerSucks challenge by sucking a lemon and sharing their experience on social media, nominating five others to take part. If people also want to donate to Help Harry Help Others, they can do so by texting ‘HARRY’ to 70800 (£5 donation) or through the website (www.hhho.org.uk).
